A relatively new group in the area has its meetings on the second Thursday of each month at the Escalon Library – with the next session scheduled for April 12.

The Escalon Scottish Cultural Association gathers at 6 p.m. at the library, 1540 Second St., and all are welcome to attend.

Goals of the group are to “explore and celebrate Scottish and Celtic history throughout the years” and they are also focusing on hosting a Scottish Games in Escalon in 2019.

Membership is not limited to those of Scottish descent – anyone with a love of history or anyone who would like to know more about Celtic heritage are welcome. The group is also seeking potential volunteers to assist with the planning of the Scottish Games.

The organization can be found on Facebook at
