Hosting a festive annual event recently, the Oakdale Garden Club showcased six of its members’ gardens during an early October tour. More than 350 attendees ventured to the various gardens and were treated to layers of lavender, multiple varieties of fruit trees and even chicken coops adorned with artwork during the tour. Open to all gardening enthusiasts throughout the area, the Saturday tour ran from 10 a.m. to noon, ending the event with a silent auction and raffle along with some refreshments.

As garden club member and host for one of the six gardens that was featured on the tour, Andrea Skonovd, noted: “We just moved in this past summer in July and we did all of this work within the past few months. When we planted, I wanted to be able to step out into serenity, have a drink and just enjoy the natural landscape.”

Brian and Andrea Skonovd purchased their home earlier this year and began cultivating their backyard a few months ago while also replanting many of the plants in the front yard as well. The next project on their to-do list is renovating the interior of the home, now that the yard is complete.
