The Ironstone Concours Foundation was selected to receive the international Concours Initiative of the Year award for their 2023 Ironstone Concours d’Elegance. The award was selected out of 100 Concours by the staff of the Concours Yearbook produced by Hothouse Media (Magneto Magazine), which covers the top concours throughout the world. Ironstone has been represented in this publication for several years but was chosen to receive this award as the result of the efforts of the Ragtime Racers and the re-creation of a race from 100 years ago on a dirt track built expressly by Ironstone Winery for vintage race cars to show history in motion. The commitments Brian Blain and the Ragtime Racers have made to Ironstone has added a unique and special element to the event weekend and also allowed hundreds of spectators to experience racing as it was in period. Magneto is the world’s highest quality automotive magazine.

“The Ragtime Racers consider the Ironstone Concours as one of our most important, and unique, events of the year. It is the only Concours we participate in, because it is the only Concours in the country that provides us with a track to take our cars out for a Race Exhibition to provide spectators the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of what racing looked like 100 years ago. The enthusiasm and support we receive from spectators and staff at Ironstone are unequaled when compared to any of the events we participate in all across the US each year.” stated Blain.

The 28th Annual Ironstone Concours d’Elegance will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, California. Ironstone Concours d’Elegance – the annual antique and classic car show – will take place at the grounds of Ironstone Vineyards in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada. Concours d’Elegance features over 300 antique and classic cars, as well as vintage trailers and motorcycles. Plein Air Painters scattered throughout the grounds of Ironstone will capture, on canvas, the ambiance and landscape, as well as the classic cars on display.

More than 3,000 visitors enjoy the beauty of the automobiles in the ambiance of the stunning landscape of Ironstone Vineyards, located at 1894 Six Mile Road in Murphys. General admission tickets are $25 per person. Children under 14 are admitted free.

In addition to the car show, attendees are invited to purchase tickets to the Patron’s Tent, a private viewing area that is open throughout the day to Concours Sponsors and paid guests. Admission to the Patron’s Tent is $125 per person. Lunch is included and will be served at 11 a.m.

Other activities throughout the weekend include the Vintage Backroads Tour on Friday morning, and the Cars and Stars dinner Friday night.

The Ironstone Vintage Backroads Tour will lead a caravan of vintage vehicles through Calaveras County to New Melones Lake on Friday, Sept. 27, where attendees will enjoy lunch on a boat. The tour begins at 10 a.m. and lunch begins at 12:15 p.m. Tickets are $125 for a vehicle with two guests. Space is limited.

The Cars and Stars dinner will be held Friday evening, Sept. 27, and includes wine tasting from local wineries, a delicious buffet, and a lively auction. Guests will also get to enjoy a sneak peek at some of the early arrival vehicles. Reservations are required.

It was 27 years ago that John and Gail Kautz created Concours d’Elegance. As farmers and vintners, they envisioned an event that would benefit young people involved in agriculture, notably 4-H Clubs, Future Farmers of America, and the California State Fair Scholarship Fund. This year they celebrate the 27th Annual Ironstone Concours d’Elegance. From that initial idea, the Ironstone Concours d’Elegance Foundation has raised more than $1 million since its inception. In 2013, through the proceeds of Concours d’Elegance, a $130,000 pledge was completed to assist in the development of the Future Farmers of America State Headquarters Building in Galt, California.
