The Stillman Magee Regional Park in Clements has now opened for camping and day-use activities but water recreation is still not advised on the Mokelumne River, San Joaquin County Park officials have announced.
With East Bay Municipal Utilities District (EBMUD) decreasing flows out of Camanche Reservoir, water levels on the Mokelumne River have dropped from 1600 to 1400 cubic feet per second (CFS).
Thus, camping and day-use is now open at Stillman including access to all trails, picnic sites and parking areas. However, be advised fire restrictions are in effect, so campfires, grills and stoves are all prohibited.
Launching watercraft, swimming and wading at Stillman Magee is not advised as hazardous conditions remain due to varying high water flows, debris and cold water temperatures.
Stillman Magee is open from 8 a.m. until posted closing time. Single vehicle entry fee is $5 weekdays, $6 weekends and most holidays. Vehicles over 22 ft. in length or with a tow are $12. Woodbridge Wilderness Area remains closed at this time.
Park officials will continue to assess all facilities for safety concerns and may close them if conditions warrant. Visitors are encouraged to visit the website at www.sjparks.com, Facebook or Instagram pages for current conditions and closures.
