Art show, auction this weekend in Oakdale

Valley Art Association’s annual “Art Exhibition & Silent Auction” sponsored by the City of Oakdale is set for Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23.

Saturday hours, March 22 are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday hours, March 23 are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the show will be staged at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale.

This is an admission-free, family-friendly event. There will be many different media of art to view and the silent auction includes several original pieces of art. All proceeds from the Silent Auction go to support the Valley Art Association.

Participation in the show is open to artists 17 years old and older and provides a great opportunity for local artists of all ages to showcase their work.

Valley Art Association is a non-profit organization and proceeds from this show support the Association’s encouragement of the arts in the community and art scholarships.

Artwork submissions are being done Thursday and Friday, March 20 and 21, ahead of the weekend show. A reception and the silent auction are scheduled for Sunday, March 23.

An Awards Ceremony is set for Sunday at 3 p.m.; that is also when the silent auction closes. Checkout time for the silent auction is 3:30 p.m.

Awards will include: Mayor’s Choice $100 and Ribbon; People’s Choice $100 and Ribbon; Artists’ Choice $100 and Ribbon.

Valley Art Association recommends that each artist attend the reception when the awards are presented.
