It will be an afternoon of celebration on Saturday, Oct. 19 as the Escalon Historical Society and Museum marks a milestone.

The 35th anniversary of the museum will be observed at an Open House, with events planned from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, 1630 Main.

Special entertainment will be provided by the Senior Fun Bunch Singers and Gene Bartolomei will perform on the accordion.

There will be refreshments, prizes, the chance to view the various exhibits and memorabilia showcasing Escalon’s history, and the opportunity to reminisce with friends.

Also planned during the day, a recognition ceremony at 2 p.m., honoring charter members of the Escalon Historical Society and other supporters of the museum. Commemorative 35-year anniversary engraved ink pens will be for sale, along with the museum gift shop being open for purchases of a variety of products.

Along with the anniversary celebration being planned, society officials have also started selling tickets for the annual opportunity drawing for a painting.

This year, the painting is “Springtime in Knights Ferry” and was done by local artist Janet Spooner, who has lived in Escalon for over 55 years and is a member of the Oak Valley Art Society. Tickets will be for sale at $5 each. The drawing for the painting will be held during the Christmas on Main Street event, set for Saturday, Dec. 7. Proceeds raised through the sale of tickets will go toward 2025 scholarships to be presented by the Escalon Historical Society to graduating Escalon students.
