Outdoor concerts in the summer can be very enjoyable even if the temperatures are high. The fans were out in full force as the Fruit Yard Amphitheatre had another sold out show with country artist Chris Young this past Friday, July 8.
There are plenty of country music fans in this area and with country artists being the top bill for the Fruit Yard this year they have had several sold-out shows. With the amphitheater located on Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto, it is a close drive for people coming from Riverbank, Oakdale, and Escalon.
Local singer-songwriter Calli Grace opened for Young setting the tone for a fun and chill evening with her smooth vocals that have a hint of folk, country, and pop.
When Young hit the stage he had the crowd singing, dancing and cheering throughout his performance. With his deep, passionate vocals, he performed a variety of hits including “Gettin’ You Home,” “Voices,” “Aw Naw,” and “Who I Am With You” along with playing a few different guitars.
The weather was just right and as the sun set it was a beautiful summer night with mild temperatures for an outdoor concert. Young even mentioned the nice weather and thankful he was not in Nashville, as it was triple digits and humid there.
Young also performed some of his newer hits from his current album, “Famous Friends.” When he sang “Famous Friends” which is a track that he sings with country artist Kane Brown, Brown was featured on the big screen behind the band.
Young also did a stellar acoustic performance of his hit song “At The End of the Bar” on which he collaborated with country artist Mitchell Tenpenny.
There were times when Young had the crowd sing the songs or finish the lines and they did just that.
Next up, country artist Jake Owen with special guest Chris Janson will hit the stage at the Fruit Yard in Modesto on Friday, Aug. 12.
