Every couple of years, the Big Top comes to town, courtesy of the Escalon Lions Club.
This year, it's that time again and the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will cruise in to the community for a pair of shows on Sunday, May 3.
You can buy advance tickets now and save, and the Lions Club gets a larger share of the proceeds from the advance ticket sales than they do for those sold at the gate, making it even more important to buy in advance to support the Lions and their activities. You can get tickets at D'Boni's Pizza, Mar-Val Main Street Market, Escalon Feed and Taqueria El Pastor. Advance tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for kids ages 2 to 12. Circus day costs are $11 for adults and $7 per child.
Show times on Sunday will be at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and the show goes on, rain or shine. Those interested can also stop by the Community Center Park (Hogan Field) earlier in the day to watch the big top tent put up with the assistance of the animals.
Officially known as the Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus, the Lions Club has brought the show in every other year for the last several years. For more information, visit www.cmcircus
