While not all ballots have been counted yet, Escalon city officials feel confident that, based on the election results so far, it appears that Measure P will exceed the 50 percent plus one ‘Yes’ vote required for passage.
A statement to that effect was issued by the city on Monday, Nov. 18: Measure P, Escalon’s proposed local funding initiative, which is expected to generate an estimated $900,000 annually to invest directly back into the community to help support essential city services, has garnered significant support from the community.
“This strong show of support reflects a community deeply committed to preserving and enhancing its essential services,” said Jaylen French, Escalon City Manager. “Measure P will enable Escalon to make crucial investments in public safety, infrastructure, and community programs that ensure a vibrant future for our residents.”
Further, the funds will be protected under a fiscal accountability structure with public oversight, audits and regular reporting to ensure transparency in spending.
French added that Measure P’s success at the ballot box will empower the City Council, guided by community input, to make meaningful improvements that will enhance the quality of life for all residents.
