Unofficial results posted by the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office following the close of the polls on Nov. 5 showed Measure P, a one percent sales tax increase for the City of Escalon, with a nearly 74 percent approval rating. It had 1,493 ‘yes’ votes compared to 513 ‘no’ votes. The money generated would stay in the city.
In the race for Escalon City Council, incumbent Shawn Strohman had 33 percent of the vote with 1,090; newcomer Jeff Kay held down second place with 860 votes for 26 percent. Incumbent David Bellinger was running third with 754 votes and newcomer Gabriella Vargas was fourth with 606 votes. When the totals are official, the top two vote getters will win the four-year terms on the council.
Escalon Unified School District’s Measure L did not appear to be headed toward gaining the 55 percent approval needed for passage.
For the Farmington Fire Board, three seats were available and leading the way were Jeff Briggs, Frank ‘Ed’ Bracco, Jr. and Nancy Lemos, with Jeremiah Mulvihill in fourth and Kelly Ogilvie in fifth.
