civil war
A scene from a previous Civil War re-enactment in Knights Ferry. This year’s event is set for March 22 and 23.

The American Civil War Association will be presenting Knights Ferry Civil War Days later this month.

The main event will be staged Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23, situated around the historic Knights Ferry covered bridge.

Battle times are Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; Sunday, March 23 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Along with having the opportunity to watch the realistic battles unfold, those attending can also take time in between the skirmishes to visit the soldiers at their camps, set up along the Stanislaus River.

The American Civil War Association is a non-profit organization, a 501(c)3 that is dedicated to preserving American heritage and sharing history with the general public.

Soldiers representing both the North and South come from throughout California to take part in this annual reenactment, spending the weekend at their campsites and presenting a living history lesson.
