Community fall festival slated in Farmington
farm fest

Temperatures may still be in the 90-plus degree range on some days, but organizers of an autumn event in Farmington are counting down the days until cooler weather arrives.

The Fall Festival being put on through the Farmington United Methodist Church is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

It will be hosted at Jacob Strojan Park, at 25626 Elm St., adjacent to the church.

“We are renting out spots for vendors and this is in the little park by the church,” said coordinator Crystal Moos. “Deadline for sign-ups is October 1.”

And while that date may seem far away, it’s not too early to sign up for the festival.

“We’re putting it on as a church, we have a new group, EPIC, which stands for Everything Possible In Christ,” Moos explained. “The idea is to bring everybody together as a community.”

They are hoping for a good mix of food and craft vendors and have 10-by-10 vendor spots available for $40; those seeking a larger space to park a trailer can reserve a spot for $50.

“We are also going to have a costume contest for kids and do some sort of ‘trunk or treat’ but through the vendors,” Moos added.

The EPIC group is looking for those with homemade goods to sell, along with sweets and treats, craft items, food, face painting and more. Vendors will be asked to set up by 10 a.m. on the day of the event.

Moos said they are also working with a local farmer to get a pumpkin patch in place for youngsters as part of the festival and anticipate that the popular Lagorio’s eatery in town will also be involved in some way.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend; there will be games for kids, the vendors, a time for visiting with friends and neighbors, and more.

Ultimately, said Moos, the goal is to offer up a fun, community-oriented event that all ages can enjoy.
