A lengthy investigation into a mid-February disturbance at a local bar recently led to an arrest.
According to Escalon Police, the initial incident occurred early morning Saturday, Feb. 13.
At 1:37 a.m., units were dispatched to the Valley Inn in the 1700 block of Main Street in regards to a disturbance. There was some type of disagreement between two female patrons, police said, after one apparently warned the other about taking a beverage outside.
The victim, a 28-year-old from Stockton, was standing at the bar inside when the suspect came back into the bar to confront her. The suspect hit the victim with a pint glass, shattering the glass, and then continued to punch the victim. The victim suffered several facial lacerations and was taken to the hospital. The suspect and the parties she was with fled from the bar.
With the assistance of other witnesses, officers were able to identify the suspect as Nichole Delk, 24, from Stockton. Detective Hardgraves, who was assigned to follow up on the case, obtained an arrest warrant for Delk, charging her with assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem.
On Tuesday, Feb. 23 shortly after 2 p.m., Detective Hardgraves and Officer Cruz located Delk at a location in Stockton and arrested her on the warrant without incident. She was transported to the police department for an interview and later booked into San Joaquin County Jail on the charges listed above, with a bail amount set at $200,000. She is expected to face further court action.
