An argument between two men at an Escalon bar ended with an altercation and arrest on firearm charges.
The Escalon Police Department was called to the Valley Inn on Main Street at 1:26 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses told officers that two adult men were arguing and then one left and came back saying he had a 9 mm gun.
Escalon Police Chief Gus Flores said the victim, in fear for his life, tackled the other man to the ground. Another bar patron then grabbed the gun from the suspect’s waistband while they waited for officers to arrive.
Francisco Javier Marquez, Jr., in his 30s from Modesto, was arrested on charges of terrorist threats, exhibition of a firearm, disorderly conduct involving alcohol and fighting in a public place. He was booked in the San Joaquin County Jail.
