Local youngsters will have the chance to get in to a Friday night boys basketball game for free at Escalon High School on Friday, Jan. 24.

Youth Basketball Night, hosted by the boys basketball program, is open to all Escalon Unified students, K-8, and those wearing their youth basketball jerseys from El Portal, Escalon Elite, or Escalon Rec will receive free admission.

On that night, the freshmen game will begin at 4 p.m. in the EHS main gym, the Cougar Dome, on campus, with the JV game at 5:30 p.m. and varsity closing out the triple header with a 7 p.m. tip off.

Opponent for the night will be Orestimba High School, which has joined the Trans-Valley League this season.

Other special events on the boys basketball schedule include Winter Homecoming on Friday, Jan. 31 hosting Hilmar; Senior Night on Tuesday, Feb. 4, hosting Hughson; and Wednesday, Feb. 12 honoring the 2005 team, which defeated rival Ripon to claim the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV crown. This year’s Cougars will be hosting Ripon for that game.
