The Escalon FFA Chapter had several members in attendance at the 97th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Not only were students there to represent the school and town of Escalon, but four of our students competed in the National Agronomy Contest. These students worked very hard behind the scenes and secured many field day first place titles. In doing well throughout the year, they were able to attend the Agronomy State Finals at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Their efforts showed when they took First Place in the State, putting them in the place to compete at Nationals representing the state of California. Many weekday and weekend practices paid off when they placed eighth overall as a team and all four members ranked Gold individually. A huge congratulations goes out to Trenton Silva, Wyatt Riesenbeck, Natalie Giuntoli and Hannah Wampler.

Adding to the list, Jordin Lovett attended the National Convention under the title of a National Delegate. She represented California as well as Escalon. She was able to discuss new and old National FFA business, serve on committees regarding topics influencing the National FFA, and voted on recommendations made to the National FFA Board of Directors.

The remaining group of students attended the Convention for the experience and to engage in new things across the country. They got the chance to tour many attractions like Churchill Downs, Fair Oaks Farm, and the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory where they carve MLB player’s bats. The students had so much fun being able to make new friends and getting to experience new things. The remaining attendees included Angel Romero, Matix Trimble, Aiden Hohenwarter, Tessa Junqueiro, Lillian Brasil, Bryce Vallee and Colton Anderson.
