A threat at Escalon High School on Tuesday, April 5 had police responding to the scene.
Authorities indicated that a student received a message alluding to a school shooting, which put the school into lockdown status.
Escalon Police reported the incident, posting information to their Department Facebook page.
“There is currently no indication that a shooting will take place, but the threat is being taken seriously,” the post stated.
It was updated a short time later, early Tuesday afternoon, to indicate that similar messages had been received by students at other schools as well.
“It appears that students at other schools have received the same message, so it appears to be another hoax that is trending. We are still taking this matter seriously, investigating the origin of the message, and will make sure there is no threat to any students before concluding our investigation,” the department said in its post.
