Established in 2022, the Escalon Strong organization continues to be involved in the community with a number of projects, with an overall goal of helping improve the quality of life for residents.

The group is hosting its first ever Cornhole Tournament, a fundraiser, on Saturday, Oct. 21 with a 9 a.m. check-in for teams and registration being accepted the day of the event. Teams can register on Saturday for $110 and are asked to ‘B.Y.O.B’ – bring your own bags – for the competition. The Cornhole Tournament will be hosted at Hogan-Ennis Park, 1051 Escalon Ave., Escalon.

“Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, ice chest with beverages and their own cornhole bags,” said Morgan Gregg of Escalon Strong. “People can also visit our Facebook event page for details.”

Tacos de Nieve will be there with breakfast burritos and Saucin’ it Up Fried Chicken will be on site as well with items available for purchase.

“A portion of the food proceeds will go to support Escalon Strong. There will be a huge drawing to win a new Traeger Flatrock Grill and a set of Custom Made Cornhole Boards,” Gregg added. “Thank you to all our sponsors who have supported this event and the many hands involved to bring this event to our community.”

Gregg added that the group is excited to host this inaugural Escalon Strong Annual Cornhole Tournament.

“We look forward to a successful turn out,” Gregg said.

Also in the works, Escalon Strong will be having an Escalon Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Event on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., scheduled at the Community Garden site the group has developed. The garden is in the 2100 block of Jackson Ave., adjacent to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. All are welcome to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony.
