Fire Department hosting Fill The Boot fundraiser
ftb

Firefighters will be out in force this weekend in Escalon, offering their turnout boots to passing motorists as they collect money for the Firefighters Burn Institute.

The annual Fill The Boot drive is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27. Firefighters typically are staged at the main intersection of Highway 120, McHenry Avenue and Escalon Avenue, collecting donations as traffic stops for the red light in various directions at the intersection.

All proceeds from the two-day fundraising drive will go directly to the burn institute to help in funding a wide variety of programs.

Paper money, coins and checks are all accepted; there is also an option to donate via Venmo, @EscalonConsolidated, and add “Fill The Boot” in the comment section.

Those passing through the intersection in town over the weekend who donate get a flyer to place on their windshield to indicate they have given to the effort.

The Firefighters Burn Institute is a non-profit organization that treats burn victims, provides recovery programs for burn survivors, offers public education events regarding fire prevention and safety, and provides funding for educating burn team professionals, firefighters and burn survivors.

Escalon firefighters will be manning all sides of the intersection for several hours throughout the day both Saturday and Sunday.
