Van Allen Elementary School second graders recently visited the Escalon Museum for the first time. Among the activities, students were allowed a “hands-on” experience to type on old typewriters, dial phones, listen to an antique Victrola and more. Among the docents on hand to help guide them through the museum were Vickie Mello and Dorothy Miller. The visit was a true learning experience and a fun day for students, teachers, parents and docents. The Escalon Historical Society Museum on Main Street welcomes students, clubs, and all organizations interested in history to stop by during open hours or schedule a visit. Call 209-838-8070 for more information. Regular hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.
