Representing the Modesto-based Almond Board of California at the ongoing Stanislaus County Fair is Escalon resident Danielle Veenstra, informing fair visitors of the connection between bees and almonds and pointing out the major impact the almond industry has on the region. Recent data, in fact, has shown this year’s crop to be one of the largest ever. (See story, photo on Living Page 2.) Here, Veenstra shows a child-friendly activity book that is being distributed for young fairgoers. The fair runs through Sunday, July 17.
