With the addition of a new reserve office, the Escalon Police Department has gained a valuable asset, according to Police Chief Mike Borges.

The department recently conducted a formal swearing in ceremony for its newest Level One Reserve Police Officer, Nick Berchtold.

“It was actually a reunion, since Officer Berchtold previously held the same position with our agency from March of 2006 to June of 2013, when he left to live in Texas,” Borges explained. “Upon his return to California, he applied to rejoin our ranks, and we are grateful to gain his experience and knowledge for the organization.”

Berchtold is an Escalon High School graduate, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. His wife conducted the pinning of his badge in front of the Escalon City Council members, family, friends, and all those in attendance at a recent council meeting.
