Rowan Murphy and her Bred and Owned Hereford Bull RM Homeland 2C culminated 2016 by being awarded the title of Western National Nugget Junior Bred & Owned Bull Champion at the Western National Nugget Junior Hereford Show in Reno, Nevada on Dec. 1.

Murphy’s Homeland was awarded Champion Hereford and Reserve Supreme at California Junior State Fair, Reserve Champion at Oregon State Fair and Champion Hereford Bull at Washington State Fair.

“I was so excited to be named the new Junior National Champion. I have been working on my breeding program since fifth grade,” noted Murphy.

She is a senior at Escalon High School this year and serves as the California Nevada Hereford Queen, making the win during her reign all that more special. RM Homeland 2C is headed to the Red Bluff Bull sale in January.

“This year has been more than I ever could have hoped for, Homeland is the first bull calf I have raised and I hope I do well at Red Bluff.”
