For those who were hoping to get a jump on their holiday shopping, the recent three-day ‘Market at the Barn’ in Escalon definitely fit the bill.

Hosted at Lorina’s Edible Garden, 17397 Enterprise Road, Escalon, the market event ran from Friday, Nov. 11 through Sunday, Nov. 13 with vendors set up each day on site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Along with the variety of vegetables, herb plants, succulents, soaps and lotions, and cooking spices served up by Lorina’s Edible Garden, the on-site vendors offered items ranging from home décor to books, jewelry to homemade jams and jellies, candles and tumblers, spa products, handmade cards and more. Members of the Oakdale Quilter’s Guild had a booth, selling their quilts and seeking new members who might be interested in joining the group.

There was also a small corner café area set up for beverages and snacks; many of the vendors were inside the barn and a few were set up outside, just adjacent to the large barn.

Organizers said the goal was to get people to ‘shop local’ and the vendors came from areas including Escalon, Oakdale, Denair and more, bringing their wares to the Enterprise Road location.

After a couple of weekends off, the popular ‘Christmas at the Barn’ will be staged, again with the Friday through Sunday time frame. Dates are Fridays, Dec. 2 and 9; Saturdays, Dec. 3 and 10; Sundays, Dec. 4 and 11. Hours for each day will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also, a special Hot Chocolate Luncheon is planned at The Barn for Thursday, Dec. 8 at noon. Cost is $15, reservation only, call 209-402-7567; find them on Facebook or email lorina@lorinasediblegarden.net.
