Saturday festivities are on the schedule at both the Escalon and Farmington United Methodist churches.

In Escalon, it’s the 27th annual Holiday Bazaar, which also features a Soup and Pie Luncheon, staged at the church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon.

In Farmington, the park adjacent to the church will be the site for a special Fall Festival, with vendors, food, games and a trunk or treat for youngsters.

Bazaar hours for the Escalon United Methodist Church are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 26, and there will be handmade crafts and gifts ranging from wood working items to embroidered dish towels, homemade jams and jellies, biscotti, aprons, bird houses and more. A drawing for the queen size “Butterfly Garden” quilt, pieced by Karen Harris and Jeanette Parsons and quilted by Purple Patch Quilting, will be for sale at $1 each, six tickets for $5 or 13 for $10.

Ready-to-bake pies in a variety of flavors will be available for purchase and the Soup and Pie Luncheon is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at a cost of $12 for adults, with a half lunch available for $6. Children ages 6 to 9 eat for $6; those five and under eat for free.

The menu features a choice of either chili or vegetable soup, Genova French bread, pie and beverage, with apple cider, decaf coffee and ice water the drink selections.

The church is at the corner of Highway 120 and Brayton; the bazaar is promoted as a great way to get the holiday shopping season started.

The Farmington United Methodist Church Fall Festival is also scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; it will be hosted at Jacob Strojan Park, at 25626 Elm St., adjacent to the church.

Coordinator Crystal Moos said they have lined up a variety of vendors and are looking forward to a good day.

“We have 15-plus vendors, all different kinds,” Moos explained.

They range from crafts to permanent jewelry, a sourdough booth, handcrafted goat soaps and more. Food on site will include pizza and barbecue selections along with Kona Ice. Escalon 4-H will also be on scene offering a petting zoo.

“We will have a costume contest for the kids and we will have some craft activities,” Moos said.

There will also be a ‘trunk or treat’ style event where kids can visit the vendors to receive some Halloween candy. Also available will be basket raffles and a 50/50 drawing and they also anticipate having a group on hand with some dogs and cats up for adoption.

Moos said this is the first time they have put something like this together; she said the main goal is to get the community out to enjoy some fun and camaraderie on a festive fall day.
