Escalon, like many communities across the country, is preparing for National Night Out, 2019.
Scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, the festivities in Escalon will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature a contingent of police, fire, EMS and city officials making stops at neighborhood gatherings. Those planning to host an event in their neighborhood, whether it is a barbecue, pot luck, ice cream social or other activity, are asked to contact the city by Friday, July 26 in order to get on the list for an official visit.
National Night Out is observed across the county as a way for communities to ‘take back the night’ from crime and drugs. Residents are encouraged to spend the evening outside of their homes, visiting with neighbors and enjoying neighborhood gatherings. Escalon typically features a caravan of emergency services and city vehicles moving from location to location, spending a short time at each to visit with local residents.
This year, neighborhood gathering organizers will receive either a National Night Out T-shirt or barbecue apron. Those planning to participate are asked to fax their NNO form with information to 838-6561, drop it off at City Hall or mail it in, or contact Sara Cardoso with the Escalon Police Department at 691-7301 or scardoso@cityofescalon.org.
