Oak Valley Art Society hosts show

This is just a sample of the artwork that was on display in the Escalon Public Library during the recent Oak Valley Art Society fall show, with honors awarded in several categories. Marg Jackson/The Times

Winners were recently announced as part of the Fall Art Show put on by the Oak Valley Art Society, which was hosted Oct. 19 and 20 at the Escalon Library, 1540 Second St., Escalon.

There was a total of 62 entries and show artists included Gloria Bauguess, Doreen Bonta, Paul Brown, Ann Butler, Evelyn Cooper, Carol Earle, Linda Gentry, Doug Kolsters, Jean Linzmeier, Susan Macy, Judy Miller, Deanna Mineni, Ann Minshall, Peggy Nielsen, Steve Park, Nancy Podolsky, Jamie Showers, Fred Smith, Janet Spooner, Marilyn Taylor, Ron Vantz and Marilyn Zinner.

Serving as the show judge was Henrietta Sparkman.

Best of Show winners were: Painting, Judy Miller, Girl in Lace Collar and Photography, Nancy Podolsky, Porto Portugal.

Category first place honors went to:

Oil and Acrylic, land and city scapes, Marilyn Zinner, First Sunrise; seascapes, Carol Earle, Oregon Coast.

Oil and Acrylic, still life, Ron Vantz, White Lilly; portrait, Paul Brown, Fall in Love.

Watermedia, Jamie Showers, Pearl with the Girl Earring.

Soft Pastel: Carol Earle, Lovely Iris.

Graphics: Deanna Mineni, Tiger Cub.

Mixed Media: Marilyn Zinner, Vertical Dance.

Sculpture/3 Dimensional: Linda Gentry, Ocean Coasters.

Photography: Fred Smith, Me & Lilly at Her Pad.

New Artist/Novice: Nancy Podolsky, Zuko Cat.

Oak Valley Art Society board members for 2024 include President and show chairman Evelyn Cooper; Vice President and food reception, Linda Gentry; Treasurer and show finances, Vicki Gookin; Second Vice President and show set up, Doug Kolsters; Secretary and show programs and certificates, Peggy Nielsen.

A reception with the artists was hosted on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20 and the event also included opportunity drawings.
