This month’s Open House for the Escalon Historical Society and Museum is fast approaching; date for the event is Saturday, Oct. 28.
The museum, at 1630 Main, will be open for its normal noon to 4 p.m. Saturday hours that day, with a special celebration set from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Open House will honor longtime Escalon High School teacher Art Sanguinetti, highlighting his devotion to his students and the local history of the community.
Unfortunately, said society officials, Mr. Sanguinetti, the honoree for the day, will not be able to attend the festivities.
“We will still be having our open house and celebrating his decades long commitment to teaching our youth,” the Historical Society noted in a statement regarding the event. “Please stop by, reminisce, sign a guest book and take a picture so that we may send him good wishes.”
There will be special festivities and the chance to meet up with old friends while enjoying refreshments and the opportunity to tour the museum.
Also, tickets will be on sale for a fundraising Holiday Drawing, with an oil on canvas painting of the Jones Mansion being the featured piece for this year’s fundraiser. Local artist Annie Wyrick did the painting and the drawing will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 following the Christmas on Main parade. Tickets are available at $5 each and may be purchased at the museum during the Open House event or any time during the museum’s open hours, Wednesdays and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.
