A two-vehicle crash late night Saturday, Oct. 14 claimed the life of a 19-year-old from Escalon.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol investigated the crash. The name of the fatal victim was not available at press time from the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office but officials did say the 19-year-old male was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart. He was traveling westbound on Arthur Road at approximately 55 miles per hour when the crash occurred, said the CHP report. The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
The CHP Stockton Communication Center received a call regarding the crash, involving a semi-truck and car, on Brennan Road near Arthur Road.
While the Dodge was westbound on Arthur, a 2013 Peterbilt big rig was traveling northbound on Brennan Road, also at an estimated 55 miles per hour.
The driver of the Dodge, authorities said, failed to stop at the stop sign at Arthur and Brennan and entered the intersection as the truck as traveling through the intersection. Investigators said the right rear tires of the semi-truck struck the driver’s side of the Dodge.
The 19-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The 39-year-old male driver of the big rig, from Modesto, had only a complaint of knee pain as a result of the crash. The CHP report also indicated that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
