Escalon High School will see the second annual “Mr. Cougar” Pageant on Friday night, March 22.
The festive evening will feature 13 contestants, all vying for the title. All are seniors this year at EHS and include, in alphabetical order, Jacob Beneux, Nico Franzia, Ethan Garza, Darrius Higby, Anthony Jones, Nate Krieger, Luke Maxwell, Jamin Miller, Andrew Morales, Francisco Ontiveros, Matthew Rangel, Jeremiah Reis, and Jagger Scott.
Serving as judges will be Whitney Fanjul, EHS English teacher; Ryan Young, EHS History teacher; Brian Hunt, lead pastor at Crossroads Grace in Manteca and a Division I athlete; and Staff Sergeant Jovan Coleman, active duty with the United States Army for 13 years.
There will be a chance for contestants to participate in a fashion show, display their talent, do some dancing and answer impromptu questions.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Friday and the pageant begins at 6:30 p.m.
Hosts for the pageant will be juniors Helena Arroyo, Lucas Estep and John Konradi. All are involved in the EMT/Fire class at Escalon High School; Arroyo is also involved in flag football and wrestling, Estep is a leadership student and Konradi is involved in football and wrestling.
Event Commissioner is Madison Smith, an EHS senior who also serves as the First Responder Class Vice President. The pageant is a fundraiser for the school’s EMT/Fire program.
Taking the title last year for the inaugural Mr. Cougar pageant was senior Nikolai Lorenzo.
