It’s going to be a big celebration in August; organizers of the upcoming Escalon Park Fete say they are planning something special, as the city’s annual fest reaches 100 years.
Dates for Park Fete are Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5 and 6, staying in August – where it was moved last year from its traditional July dates as the state moved out of the height of the COVID pandemic.
But it’s more than just the Friday and Saturday activities, noted planning committee member Paula Rocha.
“Everything is exactly laid out the same, we will have the Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon luncheon on Tuesday,” Rocha said of starting out the week.
Wednesday evening of Park Fete Week includes the Miss Escalon Pageant while Thursday evening sees the crowning of a new Little Miss and Little Mr. Escalon.
“We are looking for somebody to coordinate the Miss Escalon and the Little Miss and Mr. events,” added Rocha.
Friday, the fun starts at midafternoon with rides, games, musical entertainment and more while Saturday is a full day of activities.
“We’re going to have to do something special,” Rocha said, noting that organizers met this past week to get the plans in motion for the 100th anniversary year. “We are looking forward to it.”
