As the calendar prepares to turn from June to July, final touches are being put on the city’s annual Park Fete celebration.
The Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon Luncheon is set for Tuesday, July 11 at noon at the Escalon Community Center. Tickets are $25 for the lunch; honorees this year are Dave and Sandy Russell. For tickets, contact Gracie Marx at 209-988-5673.
This year’s group of Miss Escalon contestants has been set; the Miss Escalon Pageant is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 as part of Park Fete Week festivities.
Seeking the title will be Aileen Aguirre, Janesa Aldasaro, Andrea Grillo, Krystal Hannaford, Kilee Hernlund, Aubrie Manriquez, Sophia Martin, Emelyn Pantoja, Faith Reyes, and Destiny Reyes.
The program will feature a catered dinner by Mike’s Branding Iron BBQ from Modesto along with the pageant and some entertainment.
Tickets are now on sale at $25 per ticket; all who attend the pageant must purchase a ticket. The pageant, with the theme Hollywood Glamour, begins at 6 p.m. at the Escalon Community Center. For tickets, contact Samantha Corriea at 209-507-6994.
Thursday night, back at the Community Center, will be the Little Mr. and Miss Escalon Pageant. The July 13 program starts at 7 p.m.; the theme is Luau and this pageant is open to the public, free of charge.
The new royalty crowned during Park Fete Week will have their first official duty, riding in the Park Fete Parade, on Saturday, July 15.
The official Park Fete two-day celebration kicks off on Friday July 14 at 4 p.m., with vendors and the Kids Corral set up in the Main Street Park area, and the carnival opening at 6 p.m.
A cornhole tournament hosted by the Escalon Police Department begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.
Saturday, July 15 starts with the Park Fete runs, leaving from El Portal Middle School, with a 10k and two-mile event starting at 7:30 a.m.; a horseshoe tournament will be staged in the Main Street Park with a 9 a.m. start time, 8:30 a.m. registration.
At 9 a.m., sign-ups begin for the Chalk Art Contest at the Escalon Chamber of Commerce booth and a stick horse rodeo is planned at 9:30 a.m.
The day will also feature the carnival, vendor booths, Kids Corral and the Park Fete parade, set to step off at 10:30 a.m.
Also, the American Legion Color Guard is planning a special presentation at 1 p.m.; and the Escalon Fire Department will host some activities for the kids at 1:30 p.m.
Entertainment will be featured on stage throughout the day and on in to the evening, culminating with headliner Remedy at 9 p.m.
Major sponsor for the Park Fete is the Escalon Lions Club, which will have its beer booth set up during the fest.
