SJ Parks graphic.png

Residents are encouraged to bring their green thumb and join for the Native Plant Trail and Village Work Days, being offered at the Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park, as part of the San Joaquin County Parks program.

Meet at the Nature Center at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 to join in for the work day this month. The May event is scheduled for Saturday, May 17.

Come help with the trail to keep it weeded, trimmed and passable. Bring gloves and small hand tools, if you have them, and label the tools with your name and phone number. Volunteers are also asked to wear closed-toed shoes and long pants and are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park. No pets allowed at the work day.

Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. After the work day, stay and visit the Nature Center, which will be open from noon to 4 p.m.

Oak Grove is at 4520 W. Eight Mile Road in Stockton.

Those planning to volunteer are asked to RSVP under “Events” on the Nature Center’s Facebook page or email oakgrovenaturecenter@gmail.com.
