Members of the Oakdale Quilters Guild will be at H-B restaurant in the banquet room, 401 E. F St., in Oakdale on Saturday, Nov. 9 from noon to 4 p.m.

“We will be selling some of the quilts our members have made, these make wonderful gifts for Christmas,” said Oakdale Quilters Guild President Jessica Gookin.

The Oakdale Quilters Guild members were challenged by the guild president this year to “Let’s get together to build Community” and the challenge was to work in teams of four to six people to complete a quilt.

“There were about 34 quilters on seven teams that completed seven quilts,” explained Gookin. “As one of the guild’s fundraisers this year, we are selling raffle tickets for all seven quilts. The money raised with these raffles help fund our philanthropic efforts for the quilts and things we give away in our community.”

All seven of the challenge quilts will be on display on Saturday with raffle tickets being sold. Winners for the seven different challenge quilts will be drawn on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the guild meeting in December.

The Oakdale Quilters Guild meets regularly on the second Thursday of the month at Community United Methodist Church, 1480 Poplar St., Oakdale, at 6:30 p.m.

Guests are welcome if you are a seasoned quilter, confident beginner or just wanting to learn to quilt. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14.
