Ready To Work (RTW) has announced the appointment of Jose Dominguez as Executive Director. Dominguez has more than 20 years of experience in developing dynamic programs and effective contract agreements for social services and housing organizations throughout the Central Valley and Solano County.
Ready to Work Board President Anthony Barkett commented, “With Jose’s years of experience as a proven leader, social services, and program development, we are looking forward to seeing the impact Jose will have as RTW grows and expands.”
The RTW program provides food, shelter, personal improvement, and career development to formerly incarcerated or habitually homeless men in San Joaquin County seeking to regain their independence and reunite with their families.
Dominguez has worked in county government social services, housing, and workforce operations since 2001 in the Central Valley, including his time with Fresno County Department of Social Services and Solano County Health and Social Services. In Solano County, Dominguez helped the county develop its Homeless Continuum of Care’s Coordinated Entry System and the Governance structure. His experience with the homeless stems from his development of the CalWORKs Housing Support Model – a permanent supportive and rapid rehousing model to rapidly house CalWORKs participants into permanent housing. Most recently, Dominguez was instrumental in the development of the City of Stockton’s US Treasury/CARES Act Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) program model, an over $35 million initiative to provide multiple economic relief programs to the city’s residents. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer for El Concilio California located in Stockton, California, a non-profit organization offering a variety of social services to high-risk youth, families and adults, primarily to the Hispanic population of the Central Valley.
Commenting on his appointment, Dominguez stated, “I’m proud to be stepping into this role to lead Ready To Work. Working closely with the RTW Board of Directors, I plan to take them to the next level through a dynamic approach, and the integration of new programs, projects, and initiatives to create a continuum of coordinated services and access to opportunities. This is an exciting time for Ready To Work.”
The RTW campus currently provides case management services and temporary housing to 49 men, as well as the ability for participants to start saving with access to immediate work. As they advance in the program, participants have access to career and technical training, as well as job placement services, and eventually, housing assistance to facilitate a stable transition to independent living.
In addition to his professional role, Dominguez continues to be active and engaged in community initiatives. He has been involved in numerous efforts to support the region’s homeless, immigrant, multicultural, and underserved/unserved communities through many non-profit organizations in the San Joaquin Valley.
Established in 2016, Ready To Work (RTW) seeks to reduce the number of homeless people in San Joaquin County by helping men with a history of homelessness or involvement in the criminal justice system rebuild their lives and the lives of their families. RTW helps clients achieve self-sufficiency through programs that incorporate case management, counseling, treatment, financial planning, work training, paid work, job placement and assistance to obtaining permanent housing. The programs enable clients to develop a strong work ethic, commit to personal responsibility and establish financial stability. To learn more visit www.readytoworksjc.org.
