San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) earned five national awards from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for its leadership in safety, security, and marketing communications.
RTD received two Gold Awards in Bus Safety and Bus Security – recognition of the agency’s efforts to implement programs or initiatives that have achieved documented success in addressing specific safety or security program areas.
Also, RTD expanded its Safety Department, reduced workplace injuries by 40 percent, improved collision metrics, and integrated new technologies such as pedestrian detection systems. RTD also implemented the Respect the Ride campaign and enhanced employee training to strengthen its organizational safety culture.
In addition, RTD won three First-Place AdWheel Awards for excellence in Marketing and Communications:
In the Workforce Development category, RTD launched an Operator Recruitment Campaign that successfully attracted new talent during a nationwide operator shortage.
Also in Workforce Development, RTD organized an Employee Appreciation Event that recognized staff contributions and boosted morale across the agency.
In the Educational Initiative category, RTD created the Rosa Parks Tribute Bus Wrap as a moving display that honored Rosa Parks’ legacy and promoted transit equity.
“These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said RTD CEO Alex Clifford. “We made safety our top priority, and we’re equally proud of the creative ways our Marketing team engages the public, celebrates employees, and shares the impact of public transit.”
APTA is a nonprofit international association of more than 1,500 public and private sector member organizations.
