Research seminar scheduled through Genealogical Society

Residents from throughout the area are encouraged to attend a special program being hosted by the Genealogical Society of Stanislaus County, scheduled for Saturday, March 29.

This Seminar on Mexican Genealogy will be a full day seminar, offered at Telle Center, Trinity United Presbyterian Church at 1600 Carver Road, Modesto. The program runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a cost of $50 per person.

In addition to the registration fee, food will be available for an additional cost or you have the option of finding food offsite. A list of restaurants will be available at the seminar.

The seminar is interactive and will be packed with the tools necessary for successful Mexican genealogical research. The day will begin with an introduction, including an overview of Spanish language tools, historical context, jurisdictions, and fundamental resources and records. As the seminar proceeds, attendees will explore relevant U.S. records, Mexican civil registration and Catholic church records, as well as a variety of additional resources.

Keynote speaker for the event is Lisa Medina; she is a professional genealogist and experienced lecturer. She is an alum of several genealogical institute programs and her expertise is in Mexican genealogy.
