Residents eyeing festive, fun Park Fete activities

A true celebration of community, the 2024 edition of Park Fete carries the theme “Salute to Escalon” and formal Fete activities begin on Friday, July 26. Presenting sponsor for the event is the Escalon Lions Club.

The recognition for Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon was hosted on Tuesday, July 23 at the Escalon Community Center; the Miss Escalon and Little Miss and Mr. Escalon pageants are July 24 and 25 respectively, and activities for the weekend Park Fete get underway on Friday afternoon.

Vendor booths plus the Fun & Games carnival with rides and games for kids open up in the city’s Main Street Park area on Friday afternoon, July 26 with an official 4 p.m. start time; there will also be food and beverage booths open for business. On Friday evening, the Escalon Police Department will host its annual Corn Hole Tournament starting at 6:30 p.m.

Musical entertainment on Friday starts at 4 p.m. and runs through 11 p.m., with three different groups on stage.

Saturday, July 27, the carnival and vendor booths open at 10 a.m.

The Kids Corral, under the direction of coordinator Sonya Huff, will feature a Chalk Art Contest at 9 a.m. Saturday and the popular Stick Horse Races at 9:30 a.m., with a number of fun, free activities for kids featured throughout the day.

Lining up on Coley Avenue, the Park Fete parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, featuring the 2024 Grand Marshal Debbie Murken. The American Legion Honor Guard will present a program in front of the stage following the parade, then Powerhouse Dance groups take to the stage to perform a number of routines.

The vendor booths, food and beverages, the Lions Club Beer Booth, local organizations and more will all be a part of the Park Fete festivities. Also, the Escalon Poker Club is having a tournament on Saturday afternoon. Members only can participate, but the public is welcome to observe and learn more about the club and potential membership. The tournament will be at the Grange Hall.

Musical entertainment on stage Saturday begins at 1 p.m. and is practically nonstop through 11 p.m., with headliner Gotcha Covered closing out the performances from 9 p.m. to 11 pm. to wrap up the Park Fete.
