“Salute to Escalon” is Park Fete theme

Dates have been set for the 2024 edition of Escalon’s Park Fete; the annual city fest will be observed on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27.

Leading up to the two days of Park Fete are several special events, including the Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon recognition luncheon, set for Tuesday, July 23; the Miss Escalon Pageant on Wednesday, July 24; and the Little Miss and Mr. Escalon Pageant on Thursday, July 25.

Friday, July 26 will see the opening of the vendor and food booths at 4 p.m., along with the Escalon Police Department annual Cornhole Tournament at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 27 is the all-day event with a morning Park Fete Parade at 10:30 a.m., followed by a special American Legion Honor Guard presentation and then PowerHouse Dance with a program on the Main Street stage.

Grand Marshal for the parade will be longtime community resident and volunteer Debbie Murken. Moving to Escalon when she was in fifth grade, Debbie Murken went to Four Tree School and graduated from Escalon High School. She has five children and nine grandchildren. Along with coaching youth sports for a few years, she was in Kiwanis and was the first female inducted into the Escalon Kiwanis Club. She was also involved in the Dent PTO, El Portal Parents Club, was involved in Park Fete planning for nine years, headed up the Every 15 Minutes program at Escalon High School for several years and has been involved with the Chamber of Commerce, Christmas on Main, Escalon Parks Foundation, and Toys for Tots. A foster parent for over 20 years, she also served on the Escalon Recreation Commission.

Live entertainment is planned at Park Fete on Friday night, along with Saturday afternoon and throughout the evening.

There will also be special events for youngsters at the Kids Corral and plenty of food, beverages, and the return of Fun& Games carnival rides and games.
