Local residents have the opportunity to take part in a couple of different fitness programs; one is an ongoing club for senior walkers, the other is a special event being hosted at Escalon Community Ambulance.
First, the ‘Senior Steppers’ walking group is expanding their routine. All those senior citizens interested in walking with the Fun Bunch Senior Steppers can participate four days a week now.
They are still meeting each Monday and Friday at 11 a.m. at Brentwood Park, corner of Justin and Mission on the city’s east end, but have now added a second location. Two more walking days, Tuesdays and Thursdays, are on the schedule with a 9 a.m. start, with walks on the west side of town. That group will meet at Sanchez Park, off First Street on Sanchez, to begin their walk route.
Local seniors interested can join in on any or all of these days for fresh air, exercise, camaraderie and a good time with fun seniors. For any additional information, call Fun Bunch representatives Peggy at 209-479-6099 or Gerri at 209-324-6947.
A special event, Yoga at ECA, is scheduled for Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Escalon Community Ambulance building, 1480 Ullrey. Those interested are asked to bring a chair, mat or towel and all levels of ability and expertise are welcome. The cost is $25 per person. All first responders, meanwhile, are invited to participate on a donation-only basis.
This will be ‘Yoga in the Ambulance Bay’ and all proceeds will go to the Escalon Community Ambulance Fund, as ECA is planning to purchase a new ambulance this year.
We EscalonFit Studio will provide the yoga instruction.
