It’s time for the second annual “Gather Around Main” Market, with the focus on supporting local businesses.

“Our event takes place November 30, Small Business Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with about 30 local small businesses and vendors attending,” explained Megan Silva, one of the organizers. “This event is free for all.”

Those 21 and over are also invited to pick up a ‘passport’ at Lumberyard Cellars on First Street or The Shop on Main Street and work their way around to each business, collecting a stamp on their passport. Participating businesses will be identified by having their logo on the passport.

“Full passports can be turned in at the same place they picked them up for a chance to win one of our several giveaways,” Silva explained. “Last year we had about 200 members of our community join in the fun and we are looking to grow that number this year.”

Vendors will have a variety of merchandise, food and baked goods for sale, there will be local artisans on hand and gift shops represented as well.

After Thanksgiving and Black Friday, the focus turns to Small Business Saturday, with residents encouraged to take time to visit their local merchants, spending money in their own community.

Silva said participating business are joining forces in “hopes of gathering our community on Main Street while shopping, snacking, sipping our way around Main and First streets while supporting our small local businesses.”

Prizes awarded in the Passport program have been donated by the participating local businesses, Silva added.
