An evening full of socializing, eating, offering up bids on both live and silent auction items and, finally, some dancing made for a successful Escalon High School Sports Boosters fundraiser.
Staged at the Escalon Community Center, the catered dinner event saw the Boosters earn a profit of $45,000 that will help support all sports teams and programs at Escalon High School.
Leading the Sports Boosters group are President Ilda Medina, Vice President Jessica Gutierrez, Secretary Melanie Jimenez and Treasurer Christina Silveira. They were the driving force behind the dinner once again, coordinating the effort to bring in multiple silent auction items and raffle prizes, as well as a variety of items for the live auction.
“It’s great to see so many familiar faces; parents, coaches, athletes and supporters that make every sports program so amazing,” Medina said in addressing the crowd at the March 22 gathering.
She also thanked those in attendance for supporting EHS student athletes through fundraising, volunteering or “simply cheering for our students” while watching from the stands.
Medina said she can always count on people to step up to help, and she and her fellow officers “couldn’t do it” without them.
Several student athletes helped serve the dinner for those purchasing special tables, while those at the premier Golden Table had even more perks, including hors d’oeuvres, wine at the table, a dedicated wait staff for the evening and more.
The live auction again was hosted by second-year auctioneer Steve Riesenbeck and featured such favorites as a catered taco party by Tacos de Nieve, longtime teacher and coach Rick Heflin’s famous cookies, a cabin stay in Twain Harte and more. A pair of tickets to a sold-out Morgan Wallen concert at Levi’s Stadium went for $5,100; a Cougar Homecoming Tailgate Party went for $725. And the Golden Table also went up for auction for the 2026 Sports Boosters dinner and went for $4,000.
While the dinner raised some $45,000 for the high school sports programs, Boosters VP Gutierrez also took a turn on the microphone and offered some facts and figures.
“We are so thankful for all of your guys’ support; and over the last year we’ve been able to raise so much money that we have been able to give back over $58,000 to our 17 sports,” Gutierrez said. “One hundred percent of all the money tonight that is raised will go back to all of those sports, so thank you so much.”
