This summer, Escalon FFA made some remarkable achievements at both the California State Fair and California Youth Ag Expo with their livestock. Every year, the city of Sacramento hosts the California State Fair which showcases agriculture, entertainment, and community spirit. It is a 17-day long event where exhibitors are given the opportunity to promote their livestock and compete in front of judges. This year, both Destiny Reyes and Aiden Hohenwarter took center stage and showcased their hard work and dedication in animal showmanship. Aiden came home with Supreme Champion Wether Doe, Champion FFA goat showman, and third overall master showman. Destiny also placed incredibly well with fourth overall senior Nigerian Dwarf doe, second place advanced showmanship in dairy goats, and third place in dairy master showmanship.
As well as the State Fair, CYAE (California Youth Ag Expo) is held annually. CYAE is an event that provides young people with an opportunity to learn and engage in agriculture-related activities such as workshops, speaking competitions, and livestock showing. Its purpose is to educate and inspire youth about the importance of agriculture and its industries. Both Destiny Reyes and Aiden Hohenwarter also attended this event and competed very well. Aiden won Supreme Champion doe, Champion breeding doe, third overall Wether Dam doe, and Res division 1 Wether; while Destiny competed in senior prepared public speaking. Congratulations to both Destiny and Aiden for their hard work and dedication to representing Escalon FFA well over the summer.
