Despite heavy rain in the morning, the second annual Escalon Strong Cornhole Tournament went off as planned, and, said coordinator Morgan Gregg, “we ended the day with sunshine and smiles.”

There were many more teams competing this year than last year, Gregg added, and they also added a few more activities to make it a family-friendly event.

“Our volunteers were committed to creating a fun community experience, so we made some adjustments and kept pressing forward,” Gregg said of dealing with the raindrops early on at the Saturday, Nov. 2 event.

The Round Robin Tournament was hosted by Smokin Oaks with the Mabel’s Husband team coming away with championship honors. Second place team was McNeil and third place went to Cause and Effect.

The event also featured face painting, food booths, games in the Main Street Park, music provided by Gotcha Covered, giveaway items, informational booths and some vendors.

“With twice the amount of teams as last year and generous participants and spectators supporting Escalon Strong, the second annual cornhole was a success,” Gregg said. “We look forward to hosting a third annual cornhole but I think it’s safe to say … it won’t be in November.”
