Multiple teams turned out on a sunny Saturday for some cornhole competition on Oct. 21, meeting for the Escalon Strong Cornhole Tournament at Hogan-Ennis Park.

First place in the competition went to Team Maybel’s Husband, with second place going to Prestige Worldwide; third place went to Team Dave M.; with fourth place honors going to Da Baggers. There were cash prizes for first through fourth place, with $400 going to the first-place team, $300 for second, $200 for third and $100 to the fourth-place team.

“An all-around good time at the park and a day filled with gratitude for those that helped put this event together and to those that supported it by coming out,” said Escalon Strong board member Morgan Gregg, who served as coordinator for the tournament. “The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The food was delicious. Participants of the cornhole tournament and spectators seemed to really enjoy themselves.”

Along with the competition, there were some food options with breakfast burritos by Tacos de Nieve and the Saucin It Up food truck for lunch.

There was also a drawing for a set of custom made cornhole boards and a Traeger Flatrock Grill. Winner of that drawing was Matt Anderson; the custom boards and bags will be designed by Steve Gregg.

“It was a great opportunity to share the many projects and initiatives Escalon Strong has been working on throughout the community,” added Morgan Gregg. “Events like this will help support our mission and allow us to reach our goals and impact the citizens of Escalon and surrounding communities. We look forward to hosting next year and making this a staple event people look forward to each year.”

The Escalon Strong group is also preparing for a special Ribbon Cutting ceremony, set at their Community Garden project on Jackson Avenue, with the event scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m.; all are welcome to attend.
