In action at their Tuesday, Feb. 19 meeting, the Escalon Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the induction of three new members to the EUSD Hall of Fame.

The EUSD Hall of Fame was established by the EUSD Board of Trustees to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Escalon Unified School District Educational system and the community at large. A total of 13 members have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1997. Those already in the Hall of Fame include: Gerald (Jerry) L. Barton, Patricia Coslet, Lloyd C. Engel, Audrey Mensinger Gillispie, Jacob C. Klessens, Edward (Ed) Patrick Mulvihill, James L. Pritchard, Seward H. Smith, Michael Backovich, Roger Beeman, Robert (Bob) Loureiro, David (Dave) Mantooth, and Arthur (Art) Sanguinetti.

“The recently inducted members include Janet Karr Sutton, Jeanette Maduena Souza, and Grant Thompson,” said District Superintendent Ricardo Chavez. “The addition of these new inductees makes a total of 16 distinguished community members, who have been inducted by the Board of Trustees.”

Former longtime board trustee, Grant Thompson, attended the Feb. 18 meeting along with his family. He thanked the board for this distinguished honor and expressed appreciation for all of their hard work and continued commitment to the students of Escalon Unified. Janet Karr Sutton’s daughter-in-law was also in attendance, representing Janet.

The newest inductees will be honored during a dinner reception scheduled for Friday, March 21 at 6 p.m.

The dinner will be hosted at the Escalon High School Theater.

“This year, in addition to honoring the newly inducted Hall of Fame inductees, the District will also be honoring both the Classified and Certificated Employees of the year,” Chavez added.

Tickets are available for purchase, at $25 per person, at the Escalon Unified School District Office at 1520 Yosemite Ave., Escalon.

“It will be a very special night where deserving community members and current employees will be honored for their notable contributions to the EUSD educational community,” said Chavez. “I can’t wait to honor and celebrate their accomplishments.”
