Veterans Day Services Scheduled For Friday
veterans
Veteran’s Day, which takes place each November, is an opportunity to commemorate the efforts of all who have been in the armed forces, with a special emphasis on living veterans.

A full slate of activities is on tap in Escalon, set for Friday, Nov. 11 as the community observes Veterans Day.

The annual events, coordinated and hosted by the Escalon American Legion and the American Legion Riders, Post 263, are scheduled to include the downtown Main Street Parade, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. and typically includes a stop at the Main Street caboose for a flag ceremony. Then, following the parade, there will be a Memorial Ceremony at the Community Center Memorial Wall. That portion of the program traditionally features a guest speaker, special music and recognition for local veterans and those still serving, along with the laying of commemorative wreaths.

Parade coordinator Vince Giovaniello can be reached at 209-604-9100 for additional information or to get a spot in the parade.

Activities will conclude with the luncheon served at the Community Center, once the ceremony has been complete. Tickets for the chicken or ribs BBQ lunch are $12, lunch will be served from noon to 3 p.m. For tickets, contact Al Bellinger at 209-838-3388. The tickets will also be available at the door.
