Balwinder “Bill” Singh Virk passed away peacefully on the evening of September 8, 2024 in his home in Escalon surrounded by his family. Bill was 65 years old and is survived by his wife, Avtar Kaur, his two daughters, Baban and Sahiba, and his son, Hasrat.
Bill arrived in the U.S. from Punjab, India over 35 years ago to pursue the American dream with his family. He graduated from Punjab University in Chandigarh, India with his Masters. He settled in Escalon, California with his family almost 30 years ago, after purchasing Escalon Mini Mart and the Exxon Mobil gas station on Highway 120.
Since then, Bill stood as a pillar of the local Escalon community and as an active small business owner. Bill was cherished and loved by the customers, neighbors, and community members he’d come to know over the past few decades.
We will never forget the dedication and unconditional love Bill gave to his family as a committed father and husband. Thank you, Dad, for giving us everything we could ever ask for, and you will live in our hearts forever.
Bill’s funeral service will be held on September 21, 2024 at the Tracy Memorial Chapel on 5 W. Highland Avenue, Tracy, CA 95376 at 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be followed by prayer and lunch at the Sikh Temple on 16101 W. Grant Line Road, Tracy, CA 95304.
