Charles Anthony Stoner, 38, was welcomed home by Jesus on December 4, 2021. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 18, 1983, to Marc and Maureen Stoner. Those who knew him called him Charlie and knew never to call him Chuck. As the son of a military man, Charlie was accustomed to moving frequently. He saw much of the U.S., moving to Texas when he was only two years old and then Hawaii shortly thereafter. If you had trouble finding Charlie, you need only look to the beach. Once there, you would see a blonde-haired, tan little boy playing in the sand and trying to surf. After his time on the beach, Charlie moved to Modesto, California, and started going to school at Calvary Temple Christian School.
Gregarious in personality, Charlie was never at a loss for friends. If ever he was, he always had the company of his older brother, Marc. Charlie and Marc were inseparable growing up. The two frequently used their mother’s sewing thread to transform the living room into a Cobra fortress that their G.I Joe action figures would break into to save the day! As Charlie grew so did his love for golf and movies. He quickly became a movie aficionado, quoting scenes from Clear and Present Danger or any movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. If ever you disagreed with Charlie on a movie, you would find yourself in the argument of your life. When he was not watching movies, you could find him on the fairway. When Charlie put his mind to something, he was committed and excelled quickly. Golf was no different. Before long, he began competing in amateur golf tournaments around California. Then Charlie took his golf skills to the big city and began attending the University of San Francisco.
After graduating with his bachelor’s degree, Charlie turned to law and settled on Gonzaga University School of Law. With a heart to defend the United States Constitution, he paved his own way, starting a criminal defense firm in the Central Valley. If you were around Charlie long enough, he would tell you that every American’s rights were to be defended, including criminals. If you dared challenge the seasoned lawyer, he would rebut that if a criminal’s Constitutional rights could be violated, then any American’s rights could be. And that was that.
In 2011, Charlie met the love of his life, Dayna Iverson. From the moment he saw her, he knew she was the one for him. Within a year they were married and had their first child on the way, Chaylah. As Charlie’s legal practice grew, so did his family. Before long, he had a son, Elias. Then came Caius, and most recently, his baby girl, Anyah. Charlie loved his family profoundly. He adored his wife and spoiled his children. Putting the kids to bed frequently turned into a wrestling match lasting far past bedtime. When the children earned enough money from chores to buy themselves a toy, Charlie always bought them the more expensive one.
Charlie shared his love of Christ, golf, basketball, and many others with his family. He was a devoted father whose pride in his children was infinite. Charlie was a great man whose impact will forever be felt by those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maureen Stoner. Charlie is survived by his wife, Dayna Iverson; his daughters Chaylah and Anyah Stoner; his sons Elias and Caius Stoner; his father, Marc Stoner; his brother, Marc Stoner Jr.; and his sisters Kelley LeVeque and Christina Koehl.
Visitation will occur from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on December 16, 2021, at Oakdale Memorial Chapel located at 830 W. F Street, Oakdale, CA. A Celebration of Life service will occur at 10 a.m. on December 17, 2021, at One Church located at 2361 Scenic Drive, Modesto, CA. Reception to follow.
