Donald E. Van Wey, 96, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 in Sonora due to natural causes.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1912 in Oregon City, Oregon and was a resident of Tuolumne for many years. He owned his own business, Van Wey Tool and Die in Redwood City. He loved gardening on his 2 ½ acres, animals, traveling, and taking trips to Hawaii with his wife Edith, who preceded him in death in 2005.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Van Wey of Stockton and Helen Betzler and her husband Bill of Tuolumne; grandchildren, Don Betzler and his wife Amanda, Carolyn Cranch and her husband Paul of Toowoomba, Australia, Bob Betzler, Stephen Betzler, Tim Betzler, Julie Betzler, Amy Betzler and Sara Betzler; great-grandchildren, Coleton Betzler and Warner Cranch.
Visitation was on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon. A chapel service and interment at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon followed.
